I upgraded all wiki's on DLRPwiki.org to the newest version of the software.

Since my host does not provide extensive website statistics I added an (invisible) counter of www.statcounter.com to the webpages to see where visitors come from, where they enter etc. Note: I only use this data to improve the usability of DLPRwiki.org (including prevention of spammers). I installed the Google Maps extension on the German DLRPwiki on 12 December. After a spam attack on the English and German wikis just before Christmas I installed the confirm edit extension there which requires a simple sum solving on anonymous edits and account creations. When this does not proof to be sufficient I will try to enable 'real' captcha's (those garbled images) but as long as simple sums works I prefer that. I also installed an extension on the English version which allows me to merge spam users into one account and delete the original user. This to prevent spamming of the user list while still retaining those spam edits. On 30 December I installed the Google Maps extension on the English DLRPwiki. At the moment (30-12-2007 14:30 CET) the image in the toolbar does not work but this problem resolved itself on the German version so fingers crossed...

Just a notice, at the moment we are running MediaWiki 1.10.1 (the fix in 1.10.2 is not necessary for this installation). As soon as version 1.12 comes out I plan to install it.

Just a quick update. DLRPwiki has been really active in the last few months. I installed a German version on August 17th and it is growing very fast and is already bigger than the English or Dutch version. Its nice to see some people who not only like the idea but also start to participate. Lets hope the German version will become a success and takes the English (and hopefully also the Dutch and any future language versions) with it.

DLRPwiki.org was moved to another host for better performance.

After the server trouble of the past months my host moved me to another server which, apparently, ran PHP 5. I found out today and upgraded DLRPwiki.org to the newest version of MediaWiki. At first glance everything seems to be working but if you find any errors, please report them to me.
General
Well, I did not have much time over the past year to really continue to expand DLRPwiki.org. Unfortunately nobody really did, which is a shame because its a wiki so everybody can chip in. I'm planning to move DLRPwiki.org to another host which gives me PHP5 so I can upgrade to a higher MediaWiki version. This will give the site more functionality. I'm also planning to update the photo archive (an activity I enjoy the most on DLRPwiki.org). After that I will try to attract some active contributors to the site.
